You could absolutely say the same of the West vs. Russia & China. Europe and Australia have sold themselves out for the U.S. and are going through stagnation & deindustrialization, while Russia and China are emerging ever stronger. Quality of life in the US especially is in decline too.
And we can finally start to really see colonialism on its deathbed this century.
In the West, the divide between the "educated" middle class and the rest of the society grows ever starker. They're so detached and unhinged, and yet remain so utterly and deeply convicted about their own moral fortitude. I'm talking about those who think that Thunberg is their star activist – who by the way would regularly attend Davos with the elites, who got a sailor to fly over across the Atlantic just to sail her across to show off how carbon-free she supposedly is, and who posed with photos with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy as Ukraine likely destroyed the Kakhovka Dam & after the U.S. likely bombed the Nord Stream pipelines. I’m talking about those who constantly freak out about all the racists around every corner while also cancelling Russia the heck out of everything.
Not to mention I'm talking about those who flaunt how progressive their stance on climate is while being so far removed with the workers in their own societies—so far removed that the latter ignite widespread, bitter protests as with the gilets jaunes in France and the recent wave of farmers' protests across Europe.
The reactionary racists of the West who bash on Muslims while the West invades and devastates country after country in the Middle East & North Africa are the EXACT SAME as those who bash on Russia as the West screws with the Donbass.
I watched as Australians said and did NOTHING after years of headlines about documented Australian war crimes in Afghanistan and as the whistleblower for those crimes is persecuted by the state. I watched as Australians did NOTHING as one of their own was held in despicable conditions in Belmarsh for publishing documented American war crimes in Iraq among so many other favours to the world.
Then I watched Australians and Westerners screech about invasion in February 2022. I watched as they stopped Russians from playing under their own flag, as they refused to let Russian players accept awards at a video game tournament, as they painted cute blue and yellow stripes over their logos, as they made cute bundles to donate money to Ukraine, as they even stopped from allowing Russian culture to be mentioned. They were all utterly petty and pathetic. These were the people who would constantly warn about racists in society, but even those racists they were always ever so supposedly concerned about never called for Muslims to be banned from everything like this.

While I was going through youth homelessness services in Australia in earlier years, I met someone who had been a refugee from Afghanistan. Australia had left him wandering in the streets, eating berries from people's trees. He smoked a full pack of cigarettes every day, and would sometimes come back to the refuge, inebriated, slurring his words as he told me about what he had gone through. I tried to help him, emotionally and financially, ending up in hundreds of dollars, but the situation didn't change, and I had to stop after he had betrayed my trust.
This is what Australia and the U.S. did to my friend. And none of those stupid, smug, self-assured bourgeoisie who idolize the corrupt Ukrainian regime as some beacon of democracy ever did anything about that.
I hope we will see the deathbed of the West this century.
